A cachepot is a decorative outer container, often used to hold a separate planted pot. A pot with drainage provides an outlet for excess water. Check the actual product: the word “planter” or a styled photograph may not clearly distinguish the two.
Identify where the plant will grow
If the plant stays in an inner nursery pot, measure that pot's widest point and height before choosing the outer cover. Leave enough access to remove it when needed. An outer container that fits too tightly can make routine inspection and care awkward.
If you intend to plant directly into the new container, confirm its drainage arrangement and suitability for the plant. Do not assume holes are present simply because the product comes with a tray.
Plan how water leaves the arrangement

A decorative cover may suit a plant already in an appropriate growing pot. A new growing pot may suit repotting when its size and design meet plant-specific needs. Those are different purchases, even if their photographs look similar.
